About me
Hi, I'm Ester – the hands behind Pottery by Ester. Before I found clay, I spent years behind a camera as a wildlife camerawoman, traveling the world and capturing the lives of animals in some of the planet’s most remote places. Animals were my first love, and that deep connection with the natural world still shapes everything I do.
My second love took me to the water – I competitively rowed for over a decade. These days, I’m trading oars for waves as I explore surfing (with varying degrees of success!). I’ve always needed something physical to balance the creative – and that’s where pottery found me.
Pottery is my third great love. I’m drawn to huggable, rounded shapes and believe that beauty should be functional. I spend countless joyful hours experimenting with bright, playful glazes – you’ll see that in every piece I make.
Originally from Belgium, I’ve called Bristol home for the past 13 years, with past chapters in Canada and Japan. Every place I’ve lived has left a little mark on my work. I hope you find a piece that brings you joy and feels good in your hands.
